Inhabits scrub and lightly wooded country, and visits human habitations. Two subspecies, L.c. cyaniventris (see picture) is larger and bluer, and is found in the Rift central region and Highlands up to Mathews Range in the north, touching the Turkana region, west to Mount Elgon and south to Masai Mara. Scarce at lake Victoria. Gregarious and noisy. L.c. sycobius is less sociable and lives in the south coast, north of Tanzania and inland to Tsavo. It is smaller, greener and with magenta belly and flanks.
