WILDLIFE: BIRDS: NORTHERN ANTEATER CHAT

Northern anteater chat
Class: Aves

Order: Passeriformes

Family: Turdidae

Genus and species: Myrmecocichla aethiops

Common name:
Northern anteater chat

Very common in the dry grasslands of the central and northwestern Highlands. Despite its general dark colour, in flight shows a large white patch on each wing, concealed when at rest. This feature makes it easy to differentiate from other black or dark birds of the same size. Usually forms small groups.
