Class: Aves Order: Gruiformes Family: Rallidae Genus and species: Gallinula chloropus Common name: Common moorhen Widespread and common above 1,400 m, in central and western Kenya. Less often seen at lake Turkana and the coast. Aquatic. Swims and dives in open waters or with floating vegetation. Opportunistic and adapted to a very diverse diet.
